Because some people asked for help installing MiNT-Net in the past, I have some experiences
now with the problems a MiNT beginner have.
But there are some basic things you should take care of.
You really should only do what is described in this text and nothing else!
Many people had problems because they didn't follow the description exactly! Special problems
were found when some people had installed a CPX for configurating serial devices (e.g. STiNG
serial.cpx), or old versions of the MiNT serial device drivers were installed and didn't work.
So, for the beginning only install Mfl distribution files and the files that are described in
the following text, nothing else! Only when everything works fine you can install other
programs! Please pay attention to the security announcements and the passages with
"ATTENTION" and follow them!
If it doesn't work, you can ask me, but you have to tell me some details about your Computer
and configuration or I don't answer your questions:
- Type of Computer
- installed AUTO folder programs (incl. order!)
- installed Accessories (ACC)
- installed control panels (CPX)
- Contents of the MiNT/Multitos folders
- Send me the following files: /var/log/messages /etc/ppp/options resp.
/etc/ppp/peers/provider /etc/ppp/pap-secrets /etc/ppp/pppchat.x /etc/resolv.conf
(Don't forget to delete your password!!).

Mfl | Warm Words maanke | Now, there we are, we have decided to install MiNT-Net, but it
isn't as easy as MiNT freaks always affirm. Many configuration files
have to be edited, but how?
This instruction was made for the first time MiNT user, who always
wanted to install MiNT-Net but never dare.
The whole distribution was composed and prepared in a way, that it is
very easy to update to Sparemint.
This distribution was made with older MiNT packages (MiNT-OS 1.4.1,
NET-104, PPPD-2.2.0), but I have replaced old versions with newer
ones, when possible.
I have added some programs to this package that are not absolutely
needed for MiNT-Net but makes working with the 'bash' easier.
The whole package includes only the most necessary programs to get
MiNT-Net working and I recommend to concern yourself of the various possibilities
of MiNT.
I also recommend to read the whole documentation once, because at
the end, there are some things that will make installation process
clearer.

ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!!
Before you're going to work immediately you should backup your harddisk, because with the following
actions it is possible to send your whole data to nirwanha and then you've got other
problems than installing MiNT-Net.:)
AGAIN!!! BACKUP YOUR HARDDISK!!!
I'm not responsible for anything!
Note:
ATTENTION!
You should not install this distribution over an old MiNT installation, this can
cause problems! This should do only people who know what they're doing!

Mfl | Warm Words maanke | I have tried to translate my german docu file "MiNT-Net für Dummies". It would
be appreciated if someone whose english is better than mine would read the whole
text and send me corrections and notes.
If something is not clear or wrong in this docu, feel free to send me your
suggestions to the following adress:
Because I do not use Ataris anymore, I can't help anymore, sorry.
If you have configurated a provider successfully, please send me your /etc/ppp/options
resp. /etc/ppp/peers/Provider file. So I can put it in the distribution for others.

Mfl | Warm Words maanke | My special thank goes to Christoph Moser, who read the whole text and told me what's
wrong or inaccurate.
